Christmas is just days away, which means ‘tis the season for Christmas movies.
Have you ever wondered what Aussies love to watch while they wait for Santa to arrive?
Reviews.org asked 1,000 Australians what they’d be streaming this Christmas and Home Alone came out on top by a wide margin. A decent 26.4% of respondents chose Home Alone as their Christmas binge.
Reviews.org collaborated with streaming service search engine Justwatch to find the movies Australians searched for most throughout the month of December over 2017, 2018, and 2019. Justwatch serves between 900,000 and 1,050,000 Australian users every month.
The top 5 Christmas movies were:
- Home Alone
- Love Actually
- Die Hard
- A Christmas Carol
And some additional fun call-outs:
- Die-hard is the only film to break into the top 5 in all previous reports.
- Home Alone makes the list for the 3rd year in a row.
- For the first time in 5 years, all of December’s top films are holiday-related. (In past years movies like Jumanji and The Avengers broke into the top 5)
Australians also spend the festive month catching up with the years’ blockbusters, like the latest Star Wars or Avengers (both available on Disney Plus) or finding the time to rewatch some old collections, such as the Harry Potter series.
