InterContinental Sydney Appoints DEC PR To Manage Communications Activities

InterContinental Sydney has engaged independent corporate and consumer PR agency DEC PR (featured image) to lead all Australian public relations activity, following a competitive tender process last month.

InterContinental Sydney general manager, Jennifer Brown said: “We were looking for a PR agency with extensive knowledge in the hotel and tourism space, with strong credentials in luxury, lifestyle and hospitality, as well as unsurpassed relationships with media and influencers across these verticals.

“DEC PR ticked all the boxes and showed not only creative prowess in their approach to PR, but a collaborative style of working that will make them a fantastic extension to our team.

“We are excited to get activity underway in what will be a crucial time for our hotel, in the lead up to a multimillion-dollar transformational renovation project, commencing later this year.”

Established more than 33 years ago within the sandstone facades of the historic Treasury Building of 1851, InterContinental Sydney is steeped in a tradition of delivering luxury travel as it should be.

Awarded Australia’s Leading Hotel and Australasia’s Leading Business Hotel in the prestigious 2018 World Travel Awards, InterContinental Sydney remains the choice location for international visitors and locals alike, and is renowned for its luxury service delivery, world-class Club InterContinental rooftop lounge, dining experiences, accommodation and events spaces.

DEC PR CEO, Michael Henderson said: “Travel is a true passion of the DEC PR team and we are thrilled to commence our relationship with InterContinental Sydney.

“Our focus will be to drive brand awareness of InterContinental Sydney as a leading luxury hotel in Sydney, for both Australian and international travellers via impactful, creative PR that has been informed by the Agency’s experience across a myriad of industries and sectors.”

In late 2018, DEC PR appointed Laura Portch, formerly of HaInterystac, as senior account director and Hannah Purslow, formerly of UK-based finance firm AJ Bell, as senior consultant.

Henderson added: “DEC PR is enjoying strong momentum with some exciting and high-profile campaigns for our existing clients completed or underway, and a range of new consumer client wins capping off an energetic first few months of 2019.

“We have been making significant investment in the development and growth of our team, with new hires who have extensive expertise in managing creative campaigns for recognisable Australian and international brands.”

DEC PR commences work immediately.
