Popular social media platform Instagram is experiencing operational issues which could cause some accounts to get logged out or crash their feeds, with the app’s parent company Meta working to correct the problems.
A number of Instagram’s users have flocked to other platforms, such as Reddit or Downdetector to report these issues and see if they’ve been fixed. According to these reports, these issues began showing up sometime around 12.30pm EDT and caused people’s accounts to behave strangely.
More specifically, people began to see the “Welcome to Instagram” message on their screen when they opened the app, as if they were creating a new account, while others reported that their Feed refused to load any new images.
Some users also claimed that they couldn’t log back into the platform after logging out, with a “we’re sorry, something went wrong” message appearing on their screen.
A spokesperson for the company has said that they’ve noticed the issues and are working to correct them so that people can navigate through the platform smoothly like before.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience,” said a Meta representative.
These issues have mostly been reported in the accounts of users based in the US, however there have also been reports of people in Australia having similar problems accessing their accounts.
