Law firm Maurice Blackburn has announced it has appointed Consumedia to handle its national media planning and buying following a rigorous competitive review.

Consumedia, along with strategic partner Half Dome Digital, held off strong competition from incumbent McCann, OMD, Carat and Havas for the account.

Maurice Blackburne’s general manager of marketing and communications, Toni Wilson, said: “After a very competitive pitch, we are delighted to appoint Consumedia, and are looking forward to working with them in the delivery of successful media and planning services to meet our future advertising needs.

“Consumedia presented Maurice Blackburn with a strong and targeted strategy that will allow us to deliver on our commitment of becoming Australia’s leader in social justice law.”

Commenting on the win, Consumedia managing partner Michael Harms said: “Our team became increasingly invested in their commitment to deliver on Maurice Blackburn’s vision of universal social justice throughout the pitch process, and that’s why we are so excited to partner with them.

“I am so proud of the team that presented such a strong and compelling strategy, led by Will Harms of Half Dome Digital, and robust media plan, headed by Marilla Akkermans from Consumedia.

“For us, the win demonstrates that size doesn’t matter; it’s about presenting a strong strategically led partnership.

“We look forward to working with Toni, Rebecca Hanlan (head of brand), Mandy Wilson (marketing and communications manager) and the wider Maurice Blackburn marketing team in bringing our new media strategy to life.”

Maurice Blackburn is the first major win for newly-formed strategic digital agency Half Dome Digital.

The agency’s partners, Will Harms and Tom Frazer, have strengthened its leadership team with appointment of new partner and head of digital Joe Frazer, who was recently a senior member of Amnet’s programmatic team.
