In a Facebook post, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the platform will not take cuts from creators until 2023.
The post reads: “to help more creators make a living on our platforms, we’re going to keep paid online events, fan subscriptions, badges, and our upcoming independent news products free for creators until 2023.”
“And when we do introduce a revenue share, it will be less than the 30 per cent that Apple and others take.”
Apple takes a 30 per cent commission fee from items sold on apps in the App store.
Back in December, they said they would reduce that fee to 15 per cent for developers who make under $1 million of annual net sales through the store.
Zuckerberg made the post on the same day Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) began.
The relationship between the tech giants has become heated, with Facebook recently objecting to Apple’s new opt-in personalised ad feature.
