iHeartRadio Unveils New Subscription Services

The US parent company of iHeartRadio Australia, iHeartMedia, has announced it is launching two new subscription services in January next year, which will also be rolled out down under in 2017.

According to the group, iHeartRadio All Access will bridge the gap between radio discovery and curation by allowing listeners to instantly replay a song, save it directly to a playlist and get unlimited skips when they hear a song on the radio.

“Our service re-imagines radio, combining the technology of an on-demand service with the power of community fostered by live radio,” iHeartMedia said in a statement.

“This presents even more opportunities to grow revenue for artists and the music industry.

“With the US monthly reach of a quarter of a billion listeners across their broadcast stations – and the 84 percent of iHeartRadio users who do not currently subscribe to any on demand service, iHeartRadio have the ability to introduce paid service on a national scale to a large new audience. There’s no other digital music service that can do this.”

Furthermore, iHeartMedia said it is also launching iHeartRadio Plus in 2017, which is designed to serve as an addition to other on-demand services – not as a replacement.

“It’s a perfect add-on, enhancing the radio listening experience for both new on-demand subscribers and those who currently subscribers to other, traditional on-demand music collection services,” it said.
