According to reports, high-end fashion retailer Hermès brought in 19 million renminbi, or $AU4.24 million on the day it reopened its flagship store in Guangzhou following coronavirus lockdowns.
Known for its luxury goods such as the Birkin bag and silk scarves, it’s been reported it is the highest single-day sales figure for a single boutique in China.
The whopping figure could indicate good news for retailers across the globe, with consumers primed and ready to splurge again once COVID-19 restrictions start to life.
China came out of quarantine + went straight to shopping. Wow.
