Independent agency Hardhat announced today the opening of its first interstate office, to be located in Surry Hills, Sydney under the leadership of Darren Segal.
The office is another significant step in the agency’s growth, after doubling the size of its Melbourne team in the last 12 months amid a string of new business wins including Melbourne Airport and Quit Victoria.
“We’ve been servicing a national client base for quite a few years now” said Hardhat managing director Justin Kabbani, “so it was only a matter of time and talent aligning to make Sydney happen. Darren is the ideal guy to help us continue our growth into Australia’s biggest market.
“He’s a perfect fit with our unique culture and has achieved some outstanding relationships and outcomes with a diverse range of clients in over a decade in Sydney. He’s also been trained in the highly effective AgencyAgile methodology that Hardhat has embraced.”
Segal is the agency’s first man on the ground in Sydney, but Kabbani expects to add “six to eight new hires across design, development and account service over the next 12 months”.
Segal, who has held leadership roles in numerous agencies including digital shop Mentally Friendly, Alpha Salmon (STW/Ogilvy) and TCO is ready to help take Hardhat to the next level. “I’ve been watching the agency for some time now and what they’ve been able to achieve in Melbourne is inspiring. The Sydney market is ripe for the type of innovative, strategically geared digital work that the Melbourne team have built their business on, and I’m thrilled to be spearheading the launch into Sydney.”
Hardhat already has a number of clients in Sydney including logistics powerhouse Asciano and craft brewery Little Creatures (a part of Lion Co), as well as Melbourne based clients with national offices including NAB and Tabcorp.
