Viewers of the venerable ABC were left somewhat flummoxed during a report on Friday when the public broadcaster unexpectedly started airing a satanic ritual.
The segment started out harmlessly enough, bringing news of new laws that could see people who hurt or injure police animals sent to prison.
But just as the segment was about to end, the news feed weirdly cut to a brief clip featuring three individuals on a stage alongside an illuminated upside-down crucifix.
Two of the three men were dressed in robes, while the other man could be seen sitting in front of what appears to be a keyboard.
Although the footage only appeared momentarily, the man in the black robes can be heard saying “hail Satan”.
ABC news anchor Yvonne Yong did her best to ignore the demonic interlude before neatly throwing to the next story.

The ABC has so far declined to comment on the incident, however, the footage apparently hails from The Noosa Temple of Satan who’ve been getting a fair bit of press coverage of late for airing some pretty outlandish views.
The group also shared a link to a story covering the incident, commenting alongside it: “Satan works in mysterious ways…..!”
