Gumtree Updates Homepage, Releases New Ad Options

Free online classifieds, Gumtree.com.au, has unveiled its new refreshed home page design. The new design gives Aussies who advertise on it easier access, as well as expanding the advertising space for brands on the homepage, including a homepage takeover option.

Gumtree head of advertising, Laura Hill, said: “Gumtree sees over four million people access the site on a monthly basis. This number continues to increase, and as it does, we need to ensure we are providing Australians with a better, more enjoyable experience when using the site.

“The changes will not only make the consumer journey on Gumtree more seamless, but also provides greater opportunities for advertisers looking to reach one in five Australian online users. Since its inception in 2007, Gumtree has grown to become one of Australia’s leading digital destinations with over 375 million monthly page views and roughly one new ad listed on the site every second.”

Greater advertising options

The new structure combines current advertising space with the new home page offering for greater flexibility and impact for brands.

Website changes

Aesthetically, the design of the website has been updated including refreshed imagery and a new navigation menu. From a usability standpoint, there has been a number of additions to help consumers navigate and view listings with ease, including:

  • Recently viewed: This new section brings together all of the listings the user has recently looked at in the one place.
  • Saved searches: Next to recently viewed, saved searches stores all searches that have been saved.
  • Seller widget: A new widget that allows sellers to manage and view their ads via quick links.
