Gumtree Gifts $50K Just In Time For Christmas
Gumtree Australia is celebrating Christmas by spoiling its community with a twelve-day giveaway of gifts, all sourced from the community marketplace. Worth more than $50,000[1] in value, the prizes feature a Tiffany Engagement ring, iPhone 7, Harley Davidson motorbike and an Audi A1 Car.
From 1 December, Gumtree will launch its 12 Days of Giftmas competition which will see a daily prize listed on the site for one lucky searcher to find and win.
The prizes feature both brand new and pre-loved items from the Electronics & Computers, Clothing & Jewellery, Sport + Fitness, Books, Music & Games, Baby & Children, Home & Garden and Cars & Vehicles categories.
Gumtree’s recent Smart Santa survey revealed that Australians spend a staggering $10 billion dollars on presents alone, equating to more than $700 per person. With more than 2.5 million live listings across Australia, the community marketplace is encouraging the nation to think ‘Gumtree this Christmas’.
James Walmsley, senior marketing manager for Gumtree said, “The competition and wider marketing campaign aims to showcase the range of quality items on Gumtree which we believe make perfect Christmas gifts.
“We’re also spreading a bit of Christmas cheer with the chance to win some of the items, including an Audi A1 worth more than $20,000!
“Our research shows that more people are open to both giving (75 per cent) and receiving (54 per cent) second hand gifts this Christmas so it’s a good time to remind them about not only the money they could save but the quality of the items available on our site.
“We know that Christmas puts a strain on finances for nine out of ten Australians, so we’re encouraging savvy shoppers to shop affordably and locally this Christmas.”
The promotion will run across owned channels and is supported with a suite of digital executions created by Naked Sydney, with media buying from PHD, and social and PR by Edelman Australia.
