Gucci Plays For Laughs In Seriously Fun Retro Christmas Ad

Gucci Plays For Laughs In Seriously Fun Retro Christmas Ad

Stuffy upmarket fashion label Gucci appears to have found its COVID-inspired funny bone releasing a seriously retro Christmas campaign.

The ad plays out as an office Christmas party set way back in 1994 and seems to suggest this could be as close any of us are going to get to an office Chrissie bash this year.

The whole thing sings along to Yazoo’s 1982 hit Only You and appears to mash together fashion (some would say hideous) from the 60s through to the 90s.

The spot’s the work of London-based, African-inspired “moving image artist” Akinola Davies Jr.

It’s all tremendous fun and a definite departure for the brand.
