Google Set To Be Sued For Alleged White Male Discrimination

Tech giant Google is to be sued by two former employees who claim the company discriminates against white, conservative men.

The lawsuit is being led by James Damore (main photo), a Google engineer who was famously sacked in August last year after a “manifesto” he wrote leaked online.

In the 10-page document (which you can read in full here), Damore claimed men were more biologically predisposed to working in the tech industry than women were.

Damore and David Gudeman, another former engineer at the firm, filed their suit at Santa Clara Superior Court in California over the weekend.

The two men claim Google is prejudiced against white men and hires and promotes women and minorities to fill quota numbers.

They also accuse the company of failing to protect employees with more conservative views, including supporters of Donald Trump.

Damore also claims that his document was never intended to be made public.

Interestingly, when Damore was sacked, an internal poll of Google employees found 56 per cent supported his comments. He has also previously claimed that Google goes out of its way to protect women and, in doing so, creates a hostile environment for male employees.

It’s unclear of the damages being sought by the two men, while a Google spokesperson said they “look forward to defending against Mr Damore’s lawsuit in court”.
