Vogue has launched the 20th international edition of the fashion magazine with Vogue Arabia; the magazine is the first to launch ‘digital first’ and is the first to market to an entire region. Vogue Arabia’s editor-in-chief Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz has picked supermodel Gigi Hadid to grace the front cover.
Vogue Arabia’s editor-in-chief Abdulaziz is a Saudi princess and fashion buyer who operates two boutiques in Saudi Arabia. Hadid has Palestinian ancestry, her father is Palestinian-American Muslim businessman Mohamed Hadid.
Speaking about Hadid’s cover shot, Abdulaziz said in Vogue Arabia,”In one poised photograph, she communicates a thousand words to a region that’s been waiting far too long for its Vogue voice to speak. The collage of countries across the Arab world are long-deserving of a place in fashion history and there’s no better first ‘face’ to lead the charge for Vogue Arabia than Gigi, a model who defines tomorrow’s entrepreneurial and dynamic generation.”
