Game of Thrones Fans Demand Season Eight Remake With “Competent Writers”

Over one million Game of Thrones fans have signed an online petition calling for a remake of the shows final season.

As of Monday morning, over one million GoT watchers have signed the campaign on Change.org, which calls for season eight to be rewritten with “competent writers”.

The hit show has thus far been based on George RR Martin’s book series, A Song of Ice and Fire.

However, the show has been taken beyond Martin’s storyline as he has not finished writing the series, meaning the show writers haven’t had the book to draw from.

The online petition was launched over a week ago by a GoT fan who goes by the name Dylan D, who is one of the many fans who has been disappointed with the final season.

Dylan D took aim at the show’s creators and wrote: “David Benioff and D B Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.”

“This series deserves a final season that makes sense.”

Dylan D originally aimed to attract one million digital signatures, however, since the petition has now surpassed the one million mark, the new goal is 1.5 million.

The broadcaster of GoT, HBO, has not commented on the petition.

The fantasy series has garnered plenty of negative attention during its final season, including a rogue takeaway cup making it into the final cut, as well as the disappointment of the ‘racist’ death of one of its characters.

The final episode of the series airs tonight in Australia.
