Game of Thrones has broken a Twitter record with more than 7.8 million tweets about last night’s episode, making it the most tweeted about episode of TV of all time (scripted TV).

This year alone there has been more than 52 million tweets about HBO’s hit show.

Data from last night’s show reveals Arya, the night King, Bran, Jon Snow and Cersei were the most tweeted about characters.

Game of Thrones is proving very lucrative for Foxtel as over one million Aussies tuned in to watch the season eight premiere two weeks ago, with over one million viewers across several air times on Foxtel tuning in to last night’s episode.

According to Foxtel, episode three raked in the highest on-demand numbers for any episode across all eight seasons, pulling 377,000 viewers using the SVOD service.
