North Korean mad man Kim Jong-un has made the shortlist for Time magazine’s annual Person of the Year, joining other distinguished nominees including US president Donald Trump and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

However, it’s the inclusion of Kim Jong-un, who’s threatened to annihilate the planet (including threats to nuke Australia), that have rattled a number of Time’s readers.
Time has responded that its annual Person of the Year isn’t necessarily about the person who did most good but who made the most impact.
Past winners have included Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Black Lives Matter activists, CRISPR scientists and Beyoncé. Adolf Hitler was bestowed the title in 1938.
