Finalists For Boomtown’s $1 Million Regional Advertising Competition Increase From Five To Six

The Boomtown judging committee today announced that it has increased the number of finalists for its $1 million regional advertising competition from five to six, given the high calibre of entries.

The competition, developed by Boomtown, offers $1 million in regional advertising to a national brand to reach the 8.8 million regional Australians across Boomtown members Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), Prime Media Group, WIN Network, Australian Community Media, Imparja, Grant Broadcasters and News Corp Australia.

The finalists are:

  1. San Remo submitted by Wavemaker Adelaidehttps://sanremo.com.au/
  1. SKYN submitted Cummins & Partners Melbourne https://www.skyn.com/en-au/
  1. IAG/NRMA submitted by Che Proximity in conjunction with Mindshare Sydneyhttps://www.nrma.com.au/
  1. Pilot https://pilot.com.au
  1. The a2 Milk Company submitted by Wavemaker Melbourne

  1. PepsiCo submitted by PHD Sydney http://www.pepsico.com.au/

Commenting on the entries, Prime Group general manager sales & marketing and one of the judges on the Boomtown Steering Committee Dave Walker said: “We are delighted with the calibre of entries and picking five finalists was a difficult job, so we failed at that task and ended up with six!  And if we could have all six finalists win we probably would.

“We’ve had entries across a number of categories and advertisers from well known household brands to new and emerging brands. It’s great to observe such a wide range of brands seeing value in the opportunity to reach 8.8 million Boomtown residents.”

Boomtown Chair and SCA chief sales officer Brian Gallagher said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the volume of entries received. Whittling this down to our final six has been very challenging. I don’t envy the task ahead for the judges trying to pick a winner from these extraordinary submissions. Pleasingly, every submission has managed to quantify the upside value of advertising investment in regional markets. It would seem that our Boomtown campaign is doing its job!”

The six finalists will now go into the final round of judging on October 8th where each will pitch to judges Mark Ritson, Melbourne Business School adjunct professor of marketing; Nigel Marsh, management consultant, communications specialist and author; and Nikki Clarkson, SCA head of marketing and communication.

The winner will be announced on the same night at Sydney’s Beta Bar.

Entry submissions required media agencies and brand owners to submit a media strategy focusing on the brand’s business challenge, consumer insight and strategic regional media approach across the TV, radio, press and digital assets of Boomtown’s media owners, and how success would be measured.
