Film’s Two Star Review Turns Into Five In Canny Piece Of Marketing

The Guardian gave Tom Hardy’s latest film Legend two out of five stars, but in a clever move by the marketers- they placed the bad review behind Hardy’s head.

Legend tells the story of the identical twin gangsters Reggie and Ronnie Kray (both played by Tom Hardy), two of the most notorious criminals in British history, and their organised crime empire in the East End of London during the 1960s.

The sneaky move makes the 2/5 star review look like a 5/5 review:

The Guardian’s film reviewer Benjamin Lee’s scathing review of the film included these doozies:

“It’s a disappointingly shallow take on a fascinating period of time and leaves us sorely uninformed, as if we’ve skim-read a pamphlet. The legend might live on but Legend certainly won’t.

“The result is a major lack of atmosphere and an overwhelming stench of inauthenticity. We’re never transported, we’re merely stuck on a tour bus.

“It’s two thugs for the price of one actor and while flashes of brilliance emerge from his performance(s), Hardy is let down by disappointingly pedestrian surroundings.”

Lee tweeted in response:

Incredible way of making my two star review seem like I didn’t hate the film pic.twitter.com/zvOyIxHQ3h
