Fiji Airways Launches Campaign To Attract More Golfers To Fiji

Fiji Airways has embarked on a campaign to attract Aussies, Kiwis and a stack of other international travellers to Fiji for its world-class golfing facilities.

The campaign includes a sponsorship of the Fiji International golf tournament that tees off today at the stunning Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course on the main island. Fiji Airways is the official airline of the tournament.

Taking place until Sunday and headlined by some of the world’s top golfers including Fijian and three-times Major Champion Vijay Singh, the tournament – now in its third year – has become one of the country’s biggest sporting events, attracting golf fans, sport stars and media from around the globe.

Former Australian Wallabies captain George Gregan is in Fiji as an ambassador for the 2016 Fiji International. A keen golfer, Gregan is attending the Fiji International, along with VIP guest, Fiji Airways Global Ambassador, Jarryd Hayne.

To coincide with its partnership, Fiji Airways has also launched a digital campaign to help showcase the tropical islands as a golfer’s paradise, and the airline as the best way to get there.

The campaign includes the production of video content that has been produced by iris.

As well as being published and promoted online globally, the beautifully shot video will feature in-flight on all international flights from November.

“Fiji is a golfer’s dream, yet until recently, it has flown relatively under the radar in terms of being known as a year-round place to go with friends or family to tee off,” said Andre Viljoen, managing director & CEO.

“With our sponsorship and dedicated marketing push, we’re hoping to boost golf tourism and attract more global golf-loving visitors to our home of Fiji. If you love golf, you need to come here.”

Less than four hours away from Sydney, Fiji boasts 14 golf courses, with three 18-hole, 72-par championship courses on the main island of Viti Levu, including home of the Fiji International golf tournament, Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course. The digital campaign forms part of Fiji Airways’ wider efforts to showcase the national airline as one that embraces its culture; one that treats each of its guests as a member of the family, and not just a seat number.
