Fan Accidentally Says Hello To Lisa Wilkinson During Today Show Segment

It seems as of late The Today Show has failed to leave the headlines for more than a day.

The latest uncomfortable incident? A loyal fan saying hello to the recently departed Lisa Wilkinson in the studio, following which, Karl Stefanovic burst into laughter.

The awkward exchange took place on a recent episode of The Today Show when presenter Tim Gilbert was sent out to a BP petrol station to offer commuters a free tank on behalf of the show.

The lucky recipient, named Cathy, just so happened to be a huge fan of the show, and when asked to say hello to everyone back in the studio, she dutifully responded with, “Hi Lisa”.

“Do you want to say hello to them [the hosts] down there?,” Gilbert asked.

“Hi Lisa,” she said.

At which point Gilbert quickly stepped in, saying, “Georgie and Karl and Sylvia, say hello to them all.”

With Cathy adding, “Hi, love your show.”

Gilbert then attempted to pass it off as Cathy shouting-out to Lisa, the show’s producer.

At which point, Stefanovic can be heard chuckling, however, had composed himself as the cameras cut back to the studio.

Stefanovic then added, “She’s very good, Lisa is outstanding.”

Meanwhile, co-host Georgie Gardener, who replaced Wilkinson, sat quietly next to him.

Wilkinson departed Nine in October last year after a highly-publicised pay dispute.
