The managing director of Facebook’s Australia and New Zealand operation Stephen Scheeler has resigned.
Scheeler started his managing director role, of both the Facebook and Instagram platform, back in August 2015. He previously had been Facebook’s Head of eCommerce, Retail, Automotive & QSR for Australia and Head of New Zealand.
His exit comes after several scandals at Facebook – both globally and locally – around miscalculating video metric reporting, the reporting of likes and video shares, as well as metric reporting including organic reach, video, Instant Articles and referrals. Over the weekend, Facebook said it will now to have its metrics externally audited.
Facebook’s group industry director Paul McCrory will be the interim MD.
