EEAA 2019 Awards For Excellence Now Open

The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) is calling for nominations to recognise the industry’s unsung heroes and emerging leaders in the 2019 Awards for Excellence launched today.

EEAA chief executive Joyce DiMascio said the EEAA 2019 Awards for Excellence entry process was now open offering the prestigious opportunity for recognition of the many talented people working in the industry. Organisers, Associations, Venues and Suppliers in the EEAA community were all eligible to enter the awards.

“We are calling on the industry tell us about the talented teams and individuals who have shone in 2019.  There are now five categories focussing on recognising people – these categories are the Richard Geddes Young Achiever Award, the Unsung Hero Award, the Best Show Team, Best Venue Team and the Best Supplier Show Team.” said Joyce DiMascio.

Since it was introduced two years ago, the Unsung Hero Award has become one of the most popular accolades of the year.

“We all know someone who is a force, the driver and the reason why things succeed and they may be people who fly under the radar. This is the time to put them forward.

“It’s very exciting to kick off the Call for Entries and we’ve given entrants an extra week to lodge their nominations. The closing date for entries is 27 September,” Ms DiMascio said.

The EEAA 2019 Awards for Excellence will take place on 4 December at one of The Big Group’s signature venues, Myer Mural Hall in Melbourne.

The Big Group group venues manager Vince Azzopardi welcomed the opportunity to work with the Association for the first time.

“We are pleased to be partnering with the Association as the host venue for the prestigious Awards for Excellence celebration. The Mural Hall team will deliver a special night and ensure that the Association’s Members have a memorable experience.” Mr Azzopardi said.

Entries will be judged by a panel of over 30 independent industry experts, including representatives of the international events community. The Association is very pleased that John Trevillian AM is Chair of Judges again in 2019.

The EEAA Awards for Excellence are a highlight of the business event industry calendar. Each year, they shine a light on the achievements of EEAA members and the shows and events, venues, suppliers, teams and individuals that have delivered outstanding results.

“They also provide a benchmark for excellence, rewarding and celebrating best practice, leadership and outstanding achievements, and challenges others to aspire to high industry standards,” Ms DiMascio said.

“There are 20 categories that will appeal to a wide cross-section of the EEAA Membership including best trade, consumer and association expos, creative and tech innovation, best products and services, and best new venue initiatives,” said Ms DiMascio.

“Many of the Award categories have added criteria around sustainability, as there are many exciting new initiatives that are being adopted by the exhibition and events industry that deserve industry recognition. We also have a specific award for Best Corporate Citizenship.” Ms DiMascio said.

“In 2019, the EEAA has been urging the industry to do more in the area of “Sustainability” so it is only fitting that we include these principles into our judging criteria,” Ms DiMascio said.
