Everybody’s favourite whistleblower Edward Snowden has just launched his first Twitter account @Snowden, and the only account he follows is @NSAGov.
Snowden’s profile description says he “used to work for the government. Now I work for the public”.
The Twitter debut is a rare appearance from the former CIA worker turned whistleblower who currently is living in Russia as he attempts to avoid charges of violating U.S Espionage Act for leaking secret documents back in 2013.
His tweets are pretty amazing:
Can you hear me now?

.@neiltyson Thanks for the welcome. And now we’ve got water on Mars! Do you think they check passports at the border? Asking for a friend.

Snowden’s follower count has exploded in the brief time since he joined. Within 30 minutes, he was up to 77,000 followers, beating NSA’s Twitter which has only 75,700 followers. Now he has 713, 000 followers.
