Dumpsville! Ten Shafts The Biggest Loser From Prime Time

Channel Ten has dumped the struggling Biggest Loser: Transformed from its 7:30pm weekday spot after it suffered disastrous ratings in the first two weeks since its debut.

The show will continue to air, however, at a 1pm time slot on Mondays through Thursdays.

The new format, with new hosts Libby Babet and Shannon Ponton, focused more on overweight people than the morbidly obese and clearly has not resonated with viewers who appear to be missing regulars Michelle Bridges and Steve “The Commando” Willis.

It debuted on March14 to audience numbers under 500,000 forcing Ten to dump it from its Sunday night prime time slot. However, when these numbers halved Ten was forced to move the struggling show to the daytime slot. It even suffered the indignity of coming fifth, beaten by SBS’s Great Continental Railway Journeys.

“We’re disappointed,” Ten program chief Beverley McGarvey said in statement. “It really hasn’t resonated with audiences the way we had hoped.”

“It is a very competitive time of year. There are two very established shows on (My Kitchen Rules and Married at First Sight) that are creating a lot of noise.”

“We hoped it would do a lot better but it simply hasn’t. We think we’ve given it as long as we possibly can. It will move to daytime from Monday.”
