Luxury cruise line Cunard is launching its new Australian TV commercial starring music superstar Delta Goodrem.
Filmed onboard Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth to celebrate her emotional return to Sydney for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the video shows Goodrem moving performance on the bow of the majestic ship as she sails into the harbour city on a glorious morning.

Goodrem plays the piano and sings her rendition of one of Australia’s most iconic songs, Waltzing Matilda. She is accompanied by a string quartet and flanked by Cunard officers in their whites, and Cunard’s iconic bellboys in their specially crafted Australian uniforms by RM Williams and Akubra. Delta was dressed by Australian designer Nicky Velani in a free-flowing silk dress in the colour of Cunard red.
The campaign launches to coincide with the start of the Australian Open today and will see a 30-second TVC running across various TV channels, VOD, BVOD, as well as the full 100 second version on paid social and YouTube for three months.
Goodrem said: “I’ve performed in many locations around the world but performing on the bow of Queen Elizabeth as she sailed through Sydney Harbour was one of my highlights! As we neared the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, performing Waltzing Matilda was truly a magical moment.”
Cunard VP, Commercial for North America and Australasia, Matt Gleaves said: “We wanted to show our Australian audience how special Australia is for Cunard, particularly after our long 2.5-year absence. It would be remiss of us to not take advantage of one of the world’s most breath-taking harbours to be centre stage of our new campaign. Adding superstar Delta Goodrem’s performance into the mix makes this commercial one of the most iconic our brand has ever produced.”
Creative director and photographic consultant to Getty Images, James D. Morgan who produced and directed the shoot onboard Queen Elizabeth said: “The whole team is immensely proud of the powerful and emotive film we created at sea with Cunard’s iconic Queen Elizabeth and Sydney Harbour as our backdrop. It was an incredibly complex and challenging shoot but with our talented team of creators at Getty Images mixed with the awesome talents of Delta with her team and the crew at Cunard, it turned out to be one of the top highlights in a career spanning 35-years of creating photographic shoots and film content across the world.”
For Queen Elizabeth’s 2022/23 Australian homeport season, Cunard has created a number of exciting itineraries to give guests a selection of the finest experiences not seen locally before.
Cunard’s inaugural Great Australian Culinary Journey headlined by Australian food royalty Matt Moran will leave Sydney on 28 January 2023. Then, Australia’s very first Gardening Journey departs Melbourne on 4 February 2023 featuring green thumbed talent including Jamie Durie and Graham Ross.
At 90,900 tonnes, Queen Elizabeth is the second largest ship ever to sail in Cunard’s fleet. She is home to just over 2,000 guests and 1,000 crew and features more than 10 restaurants and cafés, a Games Deck including paddle tennis, croquet and bowls, a two-storey library, a ballroom and the Royal Court Theatre.
