The Advertising Industry Debate Club, backed by IAB Australia, launches an empowering event, Opportunity Summit, to discuss opportunities in the Australian market after the recent tech-layoffs and the current economic instability.
Speakers will discuss options and opportunities for people impacted by layoffs or looking for a career change. Topics will range from unicorn companies, to freelancing success stories and the best time to invest. The industry event will take place on Wednesday, 5 April from 3.45pm with special keynote speakers from the startup world, Airtree’s talent network manager, Zach Rose, freelancer.com’s communications manager, Marko Zitko, and Yahoo Finance’s editor in chief, Kate Browne.
Following the keynote sessions, teams will debate on whether being made redundant is ultimately creating opportunities for individuals to grow and explore new possibilities. The April debate will be held at the Talent International Office in Sydney CBD and attendance is free, though tickets need to be booked.
Orsi Toth-Pal, the driving force behind Debate Club, said: “I’m so excited for this event to bring the industry together to spark positive conversation and inspire hope during these uncertain times. Difficult climates force us to be creative and innovate – this is a huge opportunity to think outside the box and shake up the industry.”
IAB Australia CEO, Gai Le Roy said: “Over the last two years the Advertising Industry Debate Club has become a fantastic environment for people to share ideas, test theories and meet new people. Expanding this event to provide new ideas for people looking for their next career move will undoubtedly support, inspire and connect people across the industry.”
