Danny Bass Quits As CEO Of IPG Mediabrands

Danny Bass has resigned as ceo of IPG Mediabrands australia after just three years into his tenure.

Bass’ resignation had been in the works since the end of last year when he spoke to Leigh Terry, CEO of IPG Mediabrands APAC about his plans for the future.

He said Leigh was “totally understanding” and they both agreed Bass would leave Mediabrands this year.

Bass said: “These past three years have been a career experience that has far exceeded my expectations from when I took on the role at the end of 2015.

“Supported by an executive leadership team with the highest standards of management and skills leadership, Mediabrands has been transformed into a highly respected, performance-driven business with high degrees of flexibility in helping solve clients’ business challenges”.

Under his leadership, Medibrands has moved towards people initiatives like gender balance, salary parity, maternity leave, diversity and equality.

Bass continued: “I am also a strong advocate for people’s choice in their work and personal lives, so at this stage I am following my own advice and taking a break”.

Bass joined Mediabrands as CEO in November 2015.

In the past three years, the group has attracted national clients including The Australian Government, Tourism Australia, Lion, Nestle, Government of New South Wales, Optus, Western Australian Government and AGL.

The group has also been engaged by international appointments including American Express, Amazon and Johnson & Johnson.

Under Bass’ tenure, Mediabrands Australia grew from 450 to almost 700 employees, and also achieved the no.1 Media-i agency ranking across Sydney, Melbourne & Perth.

Bass will remain with Mediabrands until mid-year, working on a transition plan with Leigh Terry.

On Bass’ departure and until a new CEO is announced, Mediabrands Australia will report to Terry, who is based in Sydney.
