Seven’s Martin Place studio in Sydney is the location of a new COVID-19 case.
Seven has confirmed that one employee, who had worked in the studio earlier in the week, tested positive for the virus.
The employee does not live in an LGA of concern, was double vaccinated, and was asymptomatic. They were tested after being indetified as the close contact of a positive case unrelated to Seven, and has been in isolation since that point.
A Seven spokesperson said that the company “is introducing all precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of all staff, as well as the broader community, and is working to the NSW Health guidelines and all other relevant regulations.”
It has identified all of the staff member’s close contacts, who have been advised to get tested and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the test result.
According to Seven, the Martin Place centre underwent a deep clean on Thursday night.
The spokesperson continued: “From this morning, rapid antigen tests are available for all staff wishing to be tested on-site at Martin Place. For field crews, testing is at the rear of the Eveleigh studios.”
“At this time, there is no change to today’s production schedule. We have back-up plans in place should the situation change at all.”
“Seven’s number one priority is the health, safety and welfare of all staff and the community.”
On Friday morning’s episode of Sunrise, host Natalie Barr shared that newsreader Edwina Bartholomew was one of the close contacts of the employee, and is now in isolation.
