Coca-cola has unveiled its first ad since the coronavirus pandemic began in a touching spot that showcases “the new normal” of sharing a meal with friends and family.
The Great Meal features 13 real households from eight cities across the globe sharing a meal and a coke together (albeit keeping distanced form one another).
Created with agency Anomaly New York, the ad was filmed remotely during quarantine. The spot has gone to air in the US and will roll out across the globe in the coming weeks.
The release of the 90 second spot follows Coca-Cola and a number of the world’s biggest advertisers announcing they will be discontinuing all social media advertising, as pressure mounts on tech giants to clamp down on hate speech and misinformation.
A number of advertisers, including The North Face and Patagonia, have withdrawn their Facebook advertisements in recent weeks as part of the #StopHateforProfit campaign.
However, the latest development will see The Coca-Cola Company, Starbucks and Diageo extend this boycott to all social media platforms.
