Scotch Brand Raises A Glass To Anthony Bourdain In Highly Emotive Emmys Ad

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house during yesterday’s Emmys after an ad featuring Anthony Bourdain ran in the US during the awards coverage.

The 61-year-old Bourdain tragically took his own life in June following a long battle with depression. Prior to his death he’d been, among innumerable things, a spokesman for the Scotch brand The Balvenie.

The brand repurposed previous footage of Bourdain for the spot where he talks about being passionate about your craft.

“If you feel in your heart, if you know, if you have reason to believe that you could be awesome at something – that you can do something unique that will shock and astound and terrify and bewitch people – do that,” Bourdain says in the commercial.

Then final caption reads: “And so you did. We were proud to have shared the journey.”
