Burger King Compares Ronald McDonald To Pennywise In Latest Whopper Stunt

German Burger King is cashing-in on the release of the new Stephen King horror flick It: Chapter Two by comparing the movie’s murderous clown, Pennywise, with arch-rival McDonald’s famed figurehead, Ronald McDonald.

And, by luring Macca’s customers to Burger King, German burger fans can score themselves a tasty one-cent Whopper.

Smartphone users who visit any McDonald’s will be geotargeted by messages that encourage them to scan an ad in a McDonald’s house magazine that, in turn, registers them for a MyBK app.

The app then tells them to “Avoid the clown” and run, not walk, to the nearest Burger King to claim their extremely well-priced burger.

Check out the trailer for the promotion below. And, apologies, it’s in German.
