Beloved radio personality, Byron Cooke is back on Melbourne breakfast radio, announcing he will host KIIS 101.1 breakfast this morning and will back behind the mic until February when the Jase & Lauren in the Morning show returns.

The announcement follows news regular breakfast co-host, Jase Hawkins, is expecting his third baby any day now.

“I’ve been mates with Jase for a long time and I’m a big fan of Jase and Lauren’s show,” said Cooke.

“I’m sure my early morning calls will be received very badly by them both, but it’s all in the name of keeping everyone updated on what’s happening – especially any baby news from Jase.”

Cooke – who left FOXFM at the end of 2020 – is looking forward to the short stint, saying, “Stepping in to KIIS breakfast while Jase and Lauren are on a break is a dream. I get my fix of live radio for a few weeks, before resuming my other great love – sleep ins.”

The popular radio personality stepped away from the commercial airwaves following his five-year stint on FOX FM breakfast, to create his independent podcast ‘The Byron Cooke Show’.

Cooke has since achieved a range of positive community outcomes and was named a Podcast Host / Presenter Of The Year Finalist at the 2021 Radio Today Podcast Awards.

The Byron Cooke Show has so far tackled numerous topics from cyber-bullying to politics. Most recently it has taken a more personal turn showcasing a more revealing, raw side which will be explored further in 2022.

Cooke said he’s still willing to ask (and answer) the more confronting questions.

“Even though there have been plenty of challenges for everyone over the past two-and a-bit years, like lots of people I’ve just got on with life,” he said.

“Being able to finally visit my American son, Zephyr this past December in Los Angeles was a great start to 2022. It had been a very long two years without seeing him in the flesh.  I call him Z Man!  He’s an amazing young man and I’m so very proud of him.”
