We Aussies are pretty across the whole Christmas in July thing; stodgy puddings and turkey better eaten in the winter months.
However, it’s an odd concept in the northern hemisphere, given it’s a baking hot summer at this time of year.
But a new Burger King spot is bringing the concept to Americans, but it’s less about being festive and more about hastening the end of 2020 which, let’s be honest, has been crappy to put it mildly.
The new campaign’s the work of two of Burger King’s agencies, David Miami and David Sao Paulo, and sees a Burger King restaurant decked out in Christmas cheer complete with fake snow. Sadly, Santa doesn’t make an appearance.
The spot opens with the rather understated line, “2020 has been a challenging year” and follows customers’ comments who agree that the end of 2020 can’t come soon enough.
