One of the more popular (see dumber) news stories of the week has to be that of Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan who taped a banana to wall in the name of art and then managed to sell it for $US120,000 (before some wag promptly ate it).
Now Burger King in France has jumped on the nonsense to promote its very own fries in a witty social media campaign.
Called “Careful what you swallow”, the campaign’s the work of Burger King’s Parisian agency Buzzman and shows the world’s most expensive piece of fruit compared to one of Burger King’s very own fries.
However, the lone chip pales in comparison in the price war, coming with a paltry €0.01 price tag. That’s not quite two Australian cents.
In a statement, the burger chain said of its new campaign: “An ironic way of displaying the excesses of contemporary art, and to remember that Burger King, at least, is not bananas.”
