CEO of goa, Chris Tyquin, and Brisbane’s Lord Mayor, Graham Quirk, have signed a partnership which will see Brisbane City Council (BCC) and goa working together to better ensure a safer Brisbane.

The partnership will give BCC free access to THE goa GRID for urgent civil alerts in relation to a disaster event or civil emergency within the region.

The Brisbane City Council has identified outdoor as a valuable medium and goa as a trusted partner with a strong history of delivering rapid response times in the past with community announcements. When the alert is raised, it will be activated on THE goa GRID within 60 seconds and reach in excess of 500,000 people daily with goa’s extensive grid of digital billboards.

The civil alerts will be activated in extreme cases for emergency community service announcements, to warn the community in real time of threats to community safety such as natural disasters or acts against the public. In these situations, it is imperative that the alert is raised immediately and reaches the widest audience of the public as possible.

Chris Tyquin, CEO of goa said, “the emergency civil alerts will be activated in instances where the administration need to notify as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, to avoid situations that are potentially life threatening.” This partnership signifies goa’s ongoing commitment to the community of Brisbane, “we see this initiative as powerful aid in any future disaster periods as well as promoting a general aura of safety with near-immediate informative announcements,” Chris added.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said this initiative complemented Council’s suite of tools to help Brisbane residents be prepared during extreme weather or emergency events, “Disasters can strike with little or no warning and this partnership with goa will be essential to keeping Brisbane residents and visitors informed and safe in the event of a local emergency.”
