Australian news website, news.com.au, has teamed up with cricket legend and one of Australia’s most revered fast bowlers, Brett Lee, for a weekly podcast that will run over the summer.
The Brett Lee Podcast sees the sporting great and co-host, Fox Sport’s Brad McNamara discuss the latest news from The Ashes, linking up with friends from around the world and having the odd heated discussion about who is better – INXS or Noiseworks.
It will be sport, entertainment and music chat and probably a bit of banter about overindulging around an Aussie BBQ.
“We’re really pleased to welcome Brett into the news.com.au family and can’t wait to hear his thoughts on all the big talking points from what will be a huge summer of cricket as the Aussies take on England in The Ashes,” said news.com.au sports editor, James Matthey.
“From bowling 150km/h in the middle of the MCG to starring in a Bollywood film and becoming mates with Elton John, Brett has a truly unique perspective on life as an elite athlete – both on and off the pitch – that will make this podcast a must-listen.”
Lee – who boasts 5.5 millions Facebook followers, and 1.6 million Instagram followers – was equally enthusiastic about his new podcast, saying he was looking forward to a summer filled with, “lots of fun, lots of stories, and lots of laughs”.
“Not just another cricket podcast, The Brett Lee Podcast will be equal parts cricket, behind the scenes insights and some brilliantly funny untold stories, giving sports fans and cricket enthusiasts’ unparalleled access to Brett and his take on the latest from the stumps, and the headlines throughout the summer,” said News Corp Australia’s head of audio, Del Fordham.
“Listeners will also have the chance to be a part of the podcast with plenty of interaction between Brett and the audience.”
The Brett Lee Podcast is produced by News Corp Australia’s on-demand audio division, NewsCast, and is available now through the news.com.au app, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms.
