More Brands Shamed For Breitbart Ads, As Twitter Responds To Kellogg’s Boycott

The ongoing saga between alternative right wing news site, Breitbart.com, and Kellogg’s food manufacturer has reached new heights overnight, with consumers now calling for even more of their beloved brands to remove ads from the site.

It all started when Kellogg’s was alerted to the fact it was posting advertisements on Breitbart.com, known for controversial and offensive articles like ‘Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy’.

Blaming the ad placement on “a very large volume of websites” in its media buying plan, a Kellogg’s spokesperson confirmed the cereal juggernaut would cease placing ads on the site.

In response, Breitbart.com launched a boycotting war against Kellogg’s, with Breitbart President and CEO Larry Solov saying, “Pulling its advertising from Breitbart News is a decidedly cynical and un-American act. The only sensible response is to join together and boycott Kellogg’s products in protest.”

Now, consumers of Chipotle, Jeep and Gap, among many others, are demanding ads be removed from the alt-right news site.

“I am discouraged and disheartened to discover that the Chipotle restaurant group is advertising in Breitbart,” reads a comment on Chipotle’s Facebook page.

“Whether or not [Chipotle] actively supports the venomous messages disseminated by Breitbart, providing any revenue by means of advertising, at minimum, makes a clear statement that the Chipotle restaurant group is tolerant of messages of discrimination and hate. This is unacceptable on every level. Sorry to say you’ve lost my business until this changes.”

The movement is already yielding results, with companies including Kellogg’s, Warby Parker, and 3M cancelling ad placement on the website.

But Twitter users have now jumped onboard the mocking train, giving Breitbart a good roasting in response to editor-in-chief Alexander Marlow basically labelling Kellogg’s as bigots.

Marlow said, “Boycotting Breitbart News for presenting mainstream American ideas is an act of discrimination and intense prejudice. If you serve Kellogg’s products to your family, you are serving up bigotry at your breakfast table.”

This stuff is just writing itself now. Stay tuned for more Breitbart rage.
