Australian indie-rock band, Boy & Bear, have collaborated with American Express to launch a one-of-a kind NFT collection to mark the band’s involvement in the American Express Back The Night music festival this Sunday.

The NFT collection brings to life a range of exclusive Boy & Bear digital artworks and unlocks access to exclusive American Express Back The Night experiences and merchandise. Seventy per cent of proceeds from the initial NFT sales will go to Support Act to assist the music industry in its recovery from the impacts of the Covid-19 crisis. These funds are in addition to proceeds from Back The Night ticket sales, of which 100 per cent will go directly to Support Act.

There are three Boy & Bear Back The Night NFTs to choose from: Platinum, Gold and Blue.

The Platinum, Gold and Blue NFT collection by Boy & Bear.

Platinum: One exclusive platinum NFT will go to auction for a truly devoted Boy & Bear fan. It comes with an ultimate experience package for two at American Express’ Back The Night music festival, including a meet and greet with Boy & Bear and more.

Gold: Four select gold NFTs are available for purchase. Each comes with one double Back The Night pass and access to an elevated American Express Back The Night experience.

Blue: 200 limited blue NFTs are available for purchase. All blue NFT purchasers go into the running to win a Boy & Bear Golden Ticket to see an upcoming show of their choice in 2022.

Boy & Bear says: “We’ve experienced how badly the Aussie music industry has been hit over the last couple of years and having the opportunity to create our own NFTs and provide some awesome experiences with American Express for our fans – all in a way that tangibly gives back to Support Act – feels great. It’s nice to be able to play a small part in something bigger.”

Naysla Edwards, American Express vice president of brand and member experience says: “We’re thrilled that Boy & Bear fans will have access to an NFT offering that allows them to own an exclusive Boy & Bear digital artwork, and also receive an enhanced and memorable experience to the upcoming American Express Back The Night music festival. This is the first NFT collaboration for our brand in Australia, and we’re proud to see music lovers enjoying this innovation, that also gives back to Support Act to continue to help the music industry get back on its feet.”

The NFT collection is minted and issued by Fanaply, ‘an eco-friendly NFT marketplace, creating official NFTs for the biggest names in music, sport and entertainment’.

American Express’ Back The Night is a unique festival experience, designed to allow ticket holders to curate their own customised line-up by selecting venues they want to attend and the artists they want to see. Taking place this Sunday 29 May, and with ticket sales going to Support Act, the event will feature artists including:

  • Gang of Youths – Oxford Art Factory from 7:30pm
  • Boy & Bear – Surly’s American Tavern from 5pm
  • Alex Lahey – The Colombian Hotel from 6pm
