Derwin has seventeen years experience in the UK, the US and Australia. He started as a copywriter at Ogilvy London in 1998. His next destination was Oregon, where he worked as a creative director at Mutt Industries, a start-up in Portland founded by former Wieden and Kennedy ECD Steve Luker.
Derwin joins BMF from Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and his international résumé includes award-winning work for brands including Nike, Nescafé, The Observer Newspaper, Nestlé and St Vincent de Paul Society.
BMF executive creative director Cam Blackley (right in photo) said: “He’s a quality hire and exactly what we need to expand the creative firepower here. I’m a big fan of his style of work and he certainly fits with our ’employ nice people policy’.”
Speaking of his appointment, Derwin said: “I’ve come at a great time. You walk through the doors and you can feel the energy of the place. Under Cam, Steve and Christina, the work keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
