“Biggest Movie In A Decade!” Eye-Popping Trailer For ‘Dune’ Drops & Already Everyone’s Freaking Out

2020’s been utterly grim on so many fronts, probably no more so than for cinema fans starved of new releases.

Yet, there appears to be some good news on the horizon for both bums on seats and advertisers with the trailer for the much-anticpated Dune dropping over night.

In what’s being called the “most anticipated film of the last decade” and after a number of aborted attempts, French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve’s remake of the iconic Frank Herbert’s 1967 book (often called “the greatest sci-fi novel ever written”) looks set to hit cinema screens this December.

With a star-studded cast that includes Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard and Zendaya, the three-minute trailer includes a stack of fights, mind control and the book’s famous (and massive) sandworms

Check it out below:

Dune is planned to be the first of two movies based on Herbert’s original book; the film out this year is expected to cover the first half, while the second movie (which doesn’t yet have a title or release date) will cover the remainder of the novel.

Sci-fi novelist Brian Clement led the praise for the Dune preview: “As a follow-up re my opinion on new Dune based only on the footage I saw (since people are curious), I think this will blow people away the way Lord Of The Rings did 20 years ago, the way Star Wars did 40 years ago.”

And Twitter users were equally forthcoming with their praise.

“This looks fucking great. Can’t wait,” penned one fan. “This is a childhood ream come true,” said another.

Warner Bros has set a December 18 release date for Dune, though it’s possible that may change amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
