Venessa Paech

I'm a communications executive specialising in solutions for enterprise and brands. My passion for mobilsing people and empowering stories has helped me manage and build some of the top online communities and content destinations on the planet. I love to mentor and educate, which led me to create the Australian Community Management Roundtables in 2009, and the world's first online community management conference, Swarm. I've built and deployed successful, outcome driven content, content marketing and online community strategies for leading brands, agencies, not-for-profits and creative organisations. I have an extensive editorial background, editing, producing and commissioning multiform content and building contributor networks. I thrive on leading, motivating, connecting, educating, challenging, leading, transforming, delivering and inspiring - and I've been known to burst into song doing it. I've been online since the late 80s and heavily participated in the first cluster of online communities (BBS, newsgroups, IRC). When I'm not leading or participating in communities you'll find me mentoring digital talent, publishing research about what I do (online communities and the social web) or choreographing musical theatre. I'm often asked to speak, mentor or consult on social media and online community. Engagements & clients include: Launch48 (Sydney and Melbourne), Melbourne Cabaret Festival, Live Performance Australia, Ad:tech, Eye For Travel, Media140, Engage11, Australian TAFE Marketing Association, SitePoint, Social Media Club Melbourne, Geek Girl Dinners, SOYA, King Content, Ford, Print NZ and more. Prior to my work on the web, I worked as an actor, singer and dancer in New York and Australia (training at Collaborative Arts Project 21, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University). I am regularly hired to choreograph musical theatre. Community service is important to me and I'm proud to have served on several boards in executive roles.
