Simone Flanagan

Over the course of my professional life I have gained significant experience working in communications and marketing through a variety of settings. I have provided high-level digital communication and marketing management for diverse Melbourne arts and advocacy organisations over the past five years. One of my biggest strengths is relationship building; I pride myself on my ability to build rapport with people quickly and to then maintain that rapport. My ability to develop productive and effective relationships with a wide variety of people and organisations, allows me to identify motivating factors of key stakeholders and work with them to achieve a relationship that is mutually beneficial. I have been involved with community arts events for over 15 years and have held various management roles at numerous arts festivals including: Other Film Festival, Lorne Film and Melbourne WebFest. I was also the communications officer at Arts Access Victoria, the state’s peak arts and disability organization. I have independently produced shows for Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne Fringe and Fringe World Perth. I have expert level experience in event management. In addition to this, I have a passion for accessibility and digital inclusion with extensive knowledge and skills in the implementation of accessibility. In 2015 I was the Media and Communications Coordinator at The Big Issue, and have recently commenced a new role as Senior Development Manager at JDRF.
