Katrina McLachlan

After twenty five years experience as a journalist, journalism educator, media adviser and communications manager, I have an intimate knowledge of the South Australian media landscape and so founded Stories Well Told with Brenton Edwards in 2012. Stories Well Told is a different type of media company, one that uses traditional media-management methods and mentoring strategies to source, write, photograph and publicise stories for a range of clients. “It had become quite obvious to me that there is a more constructive and proactive way to establish media relations and get the story out there." “The media landscape is changing so rapidly that the traditional methods of public relations and communications don’t have the same impact that they once did. Stories Well Told is about sourcing and supplying the total story package for the client so that the story has the greatest impact for a variety of audiences. “The more you engage and empower people within an organisation to communicate well with each other, the more likely you are to develop strong networks that produce amazing stories that you can tell within your organisation and to the general public.” Stories Well Told, which is the first media company of its kind, is there to empower groups and companies; no matter what size they are, to find new and exciting ways to tell their stories. “We want to share our knowledge and our experience to assist people and businesses to make the most of the media opportunities that are out there." “Stories Well Told can advise a business how to get the best out of the media and also how to find that story which is going to capture their attention and, ultimately, the public’s imagination.” “Stories that capture people’s attention are everywhere. Newsworthy stories are happening every day of every week. We can help you find the news worth knowing in your organisation and get it out there – whether it’s to your staff or the whole world.”
