Hi there, my name is Augustine Bruno, and I run toward fires. I’m more affectionately known as Gus and I’m a people-person driven to win. To quote Eminem, “success is my only motherf***ing option, failure's not.” Now that you know of my poor taste in music, here’s what I’m really good at: - I’ve completed a Bachelor in Media (Communications & Journalism) at the University of New South Wales followed by a Masters of Law, Media & Journalism at the same institution. So you KNOW I understand audiences in the digital age. - At the same time as my full-time study I also managed to climb the corporate ladder at Yahoo7, culminating in my promotion to Deputy Head of News as I worked from the 7 News Studio in Martin Place. So you KNOW I’m exceptional at time management, committed to further developing my skills and completely obsessed with the media. - Across my five years at Yahoo7, my performance was recognised for being in the top 10% of the global Yahoo workforce in consecutive years. So you KNOW that I’m brilliant at anything I put my mind to. In 2016, I left my role in the media to chase one dream born in 2014 at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil and another dream born while I was waiting in Hanoi airport in January 2016. Both of these concepts are about connecting people with common interests and amplifying the experiences through sharing. At the same time, I opened a mobile app development agency with a specific focus on the layperson and how to translate the vast world of tech into an attainable roadmap with a clear goal in sight - a journey I've been through! All things aside, the thing I’m most proud of and most passionate about is being a leader. I am so truly humbled and grateful to be considered a mentor for not only UNSW students, young entrepreneurs, and family & friends over a wide range of subjects. That’s something I consider will outlast any business venture worth writing about on LinkedIn.
