Some of my earliest memories are of being scolded for incessantly reciting advertising jingles. In an attempt to try to channel this energy into a more worthwhile pursuit, my parents had me memorise verses from “Hamlet” and recite them each and every time I would utter a single offer-laden syllable. While this brief encounter with Shakespeare has never really amounted to anything, my fascination with marketing and advertising has grown ever since, burgeoning into a career that rarely feels like a job. Since joining the industry in 2009, I have led the development and execution of a number of integrated marketing campaigns within the Sport, FMCG, Tourism, Alcohol and Financial Services categories to name a few. These have included: - Three consecutive season launch campaigns for the Hyundai A-League, each one breaking the previous opening round attendance record. - Helping the men of NSW become better mates with the “Supporting Mateship" campaign for Tooheys New. - Relaunching the Nova Radio Network nationally with the “Live Life Nova” campaign. - Rallying the people of Western Sydney around their own football team through the development and launch of the Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club. - Helping BPAY register the highest ever number of bill payments in a month through the national “Payments” campaign. - Stimulating the support of more than 3 million Australians who watched the Qantas Socceroos qualify for the 2013 FIFA World Cup. For a glimpse at these campaigns and others that I have been part of creating, please take a look at my portfolio site: http://bydanrichardson.tumblr.com. After completing a long held ambition of travelling through the United States and Mexico, my current role is National Marketing Manager for FITMedia/Muscle Up Media, incorporating Oxygen, Clean Eating, Men's Muscle and Health and The Box Magazine.
