Barry Mowszowski

As Strategy Group Head at OMD Sydney, I am part of a leadership team that oversees communications strategy at a wonderful, idea driven media agency. I am responsible for communications strategies across key accounts: McDonalds Australia Sony Australia (Playstation, Mobile, Hardware) Frucor Pernod Ricard I am co-head of Strategy Dept in Sydney and also play a part in the national strategy team of OMD Australia headed up by Alistair Henderson. My role is broad and liberating as I get work across a variety of different specialist business units within OMD to develop and produce creative media ideas in partnership with FUSE, our content specialist arm. I am also part of a leadership team that invests alot of energy in training & upskilling staff internally, part of our commitment to develop a creative, idea centric environment at OMD. Prior to moving into media at OMD and previously Starcom Australia, I was fortunate to have worked in some of the best creative agencies in the world in New York, San Francisco and Sydney. Brand experience includes Nike, Microsoft, UNICEF, American Express, Suncorp Insurance and Telstra among others. I'm passionate about ideas that transcend media budgets and love working with creative agencies and clients who believe that great ideas can be expressed in ways beyond a traditional, matching luggage approach to messaging & comms. I'm tenacious about my continued lecturing of the Strategic Planning Principles course at the Communications Council of Australia alongside my friend, Nikki Dixon from Coca Cola. It's the most fulfilling thing we do and we're heading into our 5th year of lecturing commencing in Sept 2013. I love what I do.
