As many are feeling the financial impacts of recent lockdowns, Athena Home Loans is giving Australian homeowners the chance to win $100,000 towards their home loan in a new campaign.

The home loan disruptor is encouraging homeowners to take that step towards financial freedom and is putting its money where its mouth is.

Kicking off today, the ‘Smash Your Home Loan’ campaign will run across a number of channels including television, radio, outdoor buses and digital channels until the end of October.

“Athena’s mission is to help customers pay off their home loan faster!” said Athena’s chief marketing officer, Natalie Dinsdale.

“So far we have saved Australians $365 million** over the life of their loans, but we want that number to double as quickly as possible.”

“We launched this competition to highlight to customers that we are on their side and by putting money towards your home loan – you actually save more in the long run.”

“When the lucky winner puts the $100,000 prize towards their home loan with Athena – they will effectively double their winnings. On an average home loan, it instantly knocks 8 years off the loan and will save almost $200,000 in repayments over the life of the loan*.”

“We’re proud to deliver all Athena customers no nasty fees, one of the lowest variable interest rates in the market and an automatic rate match. Empowering homeowners to slice a pretty huge chunk of time and money off the life of their loan,” said Dinsdale.

Everyone who applies for an Athena home loan between now and 31st October will get an entry into the draw for this incredible prize when they are approved.

Athena’s head of marketing campaigns, Katie Cummings called on consumers to enter the competition and said everyone taking part would benefit financially by entering.

“Approved applicants will have a chance to win $100,000 towards their home loan. This is on top of the $56,000** the average customer saves just by switching to Athena – empowering them to pay off their home loan faster and live a debt-free life sooner. It’s a win-win.”

“There’s really nothing for Aussies to lose by entering this competition or referring a friend to – just a lot of money to gain,” said Cummings.

The Athena marketing team produced the campaign in collaboration with agency partners Narrativity, Never Sit Still, Direct Response Media, and Jaywing. Most of the creative production was done in house/

* Estimated savings based on average loan of $432k (ABS May 2021) and RBA average rate of 2.88 per cent (May 2021) and monthly repayment amount of $2000.

**The interest savings estimate is an average of modelled savings of real customers who have refinanced to Athena since launch. The savings are modelled estimates only and are not a prediction. The actual future savings of these customers may be higher or lower. The estimated savings depend on assumptions that may change over the life of the loan, such as future interest rates and future borrower repayment behaviour. In making the average savings estimate, we assume the rates of the existing lender and Athena continue for the life of the loan, and we do not include the fees which may be charged by the existing lender. The remaining term and repayment frequencies are assumed to be the same as the Athena loan, and all repayments are assumed to be made on time with no redraws or credit limit increases. Every borrower’s situation is different. Your actual savings opportunity may differ from this average
