The new grounds, which are currently being developed in Moore Park, will now be known as the Allianz Stadium, in a six-year agreement that is said to worth more than $36 million.
The official name of the new Sydney Football Stadium has been unveiled, with finance firm Allianz becoming its main sponsor. The deal, which is reportedly worth more than $36 million, will have the company brandishing the currently-developed stadium with its name for the next six years.
Allianz are a well-known name within the football community, as they have put their name next to many other high-profile stadiums from across the world, including the Allianz Arena, home to Germany’s FC Bayern Munich and Italy’s own Allianz Stadium, which is owned by giants Juventus. This agreement opens up a number of friendly game options for Sydney FC, who are going to be using the stadium as their new home ground.

The now-known Sydney Allianz Stadium entered development back in 2020, with works expected to be completed sometime near the end of May 2022. Although it has yet to be fully built, there are already a number of events scheduled to take place at the new grounds, such as the NRL Finals series in September, a few of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup games and a concert by popular artist Justin Bieber.
The stadium, which is worth around $830 million and will have a capacity of over 42,000, will also be used by NRL outfit Sydney Roosters and Rugby team Sydney Waratahs.
