More than 1900 people gathered at the Cutaway in Sydney last night for the launch of a ‘new era’ of Canva Create.
Canva Co-founders Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht, and Cameron Adams joined product leads from across the spectrum of Canva’s creative suite to speak about the game-changing suite of new brand management products.
The show-stopping event was streamed live to more than 1.5 million viewers globally and included live music, a roving camera, confetti cannons and lots and lots of sequins.
The ‘magic’ AI tools have been made to make creating content such as videos, social media graphics, presentations, advertising material, and music accessible to those who aren’t trained in design tools.
For many moments, the crowd’s breath was taken away by the power of some of the AI tools. Some highlights include a ‘magic’ edit photo tool that allows people to swap in a different type of product for something else. For example, in a picture of a man holding roses, this was able to be changed to include sunflowers, instead of roses.
There was also ‘magic edit’ a text tool, similar to Chat GPT, that quickly produces text with just a few simple prompts. This is available across the entire suite of tools.
Relevant to B&T readers was the Brand Kit feature which lets users create a Brand Kit with logos, colours, fonts, icons, imagery, graphics, and brand guidelines. All the assets will be stored in Canva, meaning employees will never have to scramble around for the right assets.

In an exclusive interview with B&T, Canva’s chief marketing officer, Zach Kitschke said the creative company is now targeted enterprise clients, as well as individuals and freelancers.
